Stanly County, North Carolina, and it's Railroads

Introduction

This series of pages is a Introduction to a beautiful county from a railfan's perspective. While the site will not dwell on other aspects of the county, the links cited in the table of contents will take you to several good, informative sites. These pages have been done because when I moved here in 1995, I knew nothing of the railroads of the county -- their history, where they run, and what their operations were like. As I learned more about these subjects, I decided to put them up into a somewhat coherent Web site, which I did back in 1998.

While my Frograil site has grown into the largest railfan location site on the Internet, these Stanly County pages have languished, and the 2006 and 2002 updates are an effort to improve the look and feel of the site, update the history of the past years, and update operations of the railroads in our county. I hope you enjoy these pages, and I'd be glad to have your comments and suggestions.

Please note that the links at the top of the page are for Frograil, of which these Stanly County pages are but a very, very small part.
